I stood beside one of our grown children during worship recently and listened to loud praises and unwavering statements of faith, love and commitment to serve our King. I saw a head bowed in commited prayer, then clear eyes that shone the love of Jesus, felt a tender hand on my shoulder and suddenly, unexpectedly, my heart nearly burst with joy.
One small verse, memorized from one very small book of the Bible filled my mind. How true that,
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth” (3 John :4, NIV).
I’d like to challenge you to take time to give your Christian parent/s their highest joy today, if you still have them around and accessible. Go visit, make a call, write a note or an email. Somehow let them know that you are walking in the truth. It’s only one small act, but trust me, it will bring them more joy than anything else you could do for them.
